Forget About Diets

Forget About Diets... Low-Carb, Low-Fat, High-Carb, High-Fat, Paleo, Drs. Atkins, Eades, Ornish, Fuhrman, Vegetarian, Vegan, Sally Fallon, Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), Raw Food, Instincto, Aajonus Vonderplanitz (The Primal Diet), Jan Kwasniewski, South Beach, Carb-Cycling, Mediterranean, Mercola, etc. DIETS DON'T WORK! All they do is weaken your metabolism and pin you down like a bug wriggling on the wall. Diets cut the wrong things or limit you too much. There's a simpler, better way.

Eat REAL FOODS freely. Enjoy life and enjoy your body. Be grateful for any opportunity to share your special gift(s) and give of yourself to others, so you can become one with them. This is our true hunger, and it's why we become obese and dis-eased, because we hold-on instead of giving back the energy that passes through us. There's more to life than food.

We welcome everyone willing to discuss things open-mindedly. Our focus is on total health, not just food. What comes out of the mouth reflects what is in the heart and the mind. So that is as important, if not more important, than what you eat. We want to help each other become healthier through respectful debate and sharing information. Please don't hesitate to speak out if you feel these goals are not being upheld by others.

...And have courage. If you don't tolerate wheat or dairy or carbs or fats or sugars, that's not a reason to run and hide and yodel from the mountaintops that "x" is bad and going to kill everyone.

It's an opportunity to build strength, health, and resisilience. If carbs make you fat for example, make it your goal to eat them without gaining weight - not avoid them for life. That's the path to healing - to real health breakthroughs. That's what this site is all about.

Glad to have you back Bruce!

BRUCE! You're still alive! I thought you had disappeared off the face of the earth. I really like this post. I've tried various different diets in an attempt to mask the symptoms of my low metabolism, but in the end I keep coming back to HED because it just makes sense, and it's a good way to live...unlike diets. I'm allergic to diets. Everytime I try to restrict, I immediately mentally & physically reject it.

Have you heard of the "No S Diet"? It's not really a diet in the sense that you don't count calories or cut out food groups. Perhaps the author does buy into some false ideas, but I think the rules are sound:

- No snacks
- No sweets
- No seconds

...except (sometimes) on days that start with S

If overeating on HED is a temporary phase to get the metabolism going, then perhaps the above concepts would constitute a good maintenance plan. ?

The "No S Diet" sounds good. I can agree with Matt, because he always tries to see the good in different diets. He doesn't say that there's one diet that works for everybody. His ideal is to be able to eat HED and remain healthy and lean. Short periods eating different foods may help heal the metabolism. Like for someone who reacts to carbs, maybe they should start with high-carb & low-fat (like Joel Fuhrman) to get their insulin response normalized. Matt has experimented with lots of different diets and as a result he enhanced his metabolism, so that's what he wants others to experience (if possible). I see the potential for healing with his approach more than the low-carb or low-fat diets that preach avoiding foods.
